Youth Art Month

Every school, from elementary to high school, puts a few pieces into the show at MOCA for Youth Art month.  One of my pieces was chosen to be displayed for the Advanced/AP Studio class that I am currently taking.  It is a charcoal drawing on the book pages of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.  It was my own copy of the book, and still my favorite.  I almost cried when I tore apart the pages of the book to create my own pages to draw on.  The part of the book that I represented was the moment after the first ride on the Rearden metal rails.  Dagny Taggart is spun in the air by Wyatt while Hank Rearden descends and watches from the train stairs.
